Thank you for your interest in the Thrive Assessment for Children's Homes and Orphanages!

In 1959, the United Nations (UN) adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which defined children’s rights to protection, education, healthcare, shelter, nutrition and more. A Child’s Hope Foundation codified these rights and added a Finance Standard as well as a Governance and Human Resource Standard, resulting in a total of 15 standards. These standards comprise the Thrive Assessment and ensure that children receive care that truly helps them to thrive, now and in the future.

If a home is completing the assessment for the first time, it will generally require 2-3 hours to complete. After the first time, an assessment usually takes 1-2 hours to complete. There is also an option to save your progress and return to the assessment, if you choose to complete it in more than one session.

We recommend that you complete the Thrive Assessment for your home every 6 months to effectively track progress and make improvements. Once the assessment is complete, a report called an Improvement Roadmap will be generated to help you review standards that the home is addressing adequately as well as standards to be improved. The report will also include an overall score for the home, as well as an individual score for each of the 15 standards.
